russian export shipped by seaRussia has modern sea ports facilities. Once we have an overseas customer who wants us to ship Russian export commodity overseas then we definately will use mulitmodal transport option, where part of the way cargo will spend on a board of motor vessel in order to reach another continent. Goods shipped from Russia are always 'multimodal' for the overseas consignees which means we have first to ship cargo to the sea port and place it onto the container ship. It means cargo will be transported first through terrain (road or rail freight) and later by sea. Such combined option 'terrain-sea' is named as 'multimodal'. Most of goods are dispatched by us in standard sea containers: 20'dv, 40'dv, 40'hq, 45'hq. We use word 'pre-carriage' when we pick up a standard sea container and move it by truck to a loading place. In 99% we use truck, not rail. In USA, for example, there are container trains, which are very popular, and which carry two containers high in a raw and which are very efficient in terms of price and tranzit time. In Russia we have another situation in which case we carry empty containers to the loading site and then bring staffed container back to the port by same truck. It is important to mention that we sell Russian raw, merchandise and equipment which we source mainly within the european territory of Russia. This is industrial part of Russia with vast net of roads, availability of big numbers of production factories and industrial plants. This has a vast consentration of russian population as well. It can be easily observed on the map shown below. Well, we mainly staff containers with Russian export within the limits of european part of Russia, before the ridge of the Ural mountains. Please have a look on the below map... Therefore the export which we staff into containers somewhere within the european part of Russia we move to the nearest sea ports, such as St.Petersburg (North-West) and Novorossiysk (South), and seldom to Murmansk or Arhangelsk (North). Huge amount of Russian export is going through St.Petersburg port which is situated in the North-Western region of Russian Federation. It is the major sea logistic hub in Russia having several modern sea terminal, 3 of which had been build up just receintly (Bronka, Ust Luga, Moby Dik). St.Petersburg is having offices of the major Ocean and Feeder sea carrriers, such as Evergreen, Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Containerships, Unifeeder, Teamlines, and many others. St.Petersburg has vast net of sea routes with major European sea harbours, such as Hamburg, Lubeck, Rotterdam, Antwerpen, etc. Through these sea harbours Russian export can be further transhipped to any other world destination. One should bear in mind that European sea logistic imply additioinal 45' feet sea container standard equipment, which inner capacity is similar to standard tautliner 90 cub.m. Max payload is 25-26 mt. For rest of detinations 45' feet container is excluded. Tranzit time for purely sea delivery (port-to-the-port sea freight) St.Petersburg - Hamburg, Germany is 2 days. St.Petersburg - Rotterdam, The Netherlands 3 days. UK's ports 2-3 days. Medditeranian ports 15-20 days. Persian gulf 22-28 days. South Asian ports 35-40 days. Latin America's 25-30 days. It is necessary to remember that additional time needed for pre-carriage, custom's clearance in Russia and placing into the export stock, as well as time needed in the port of destination for discharging, custom's clearance, on-carriage and empty container drop off. Alltogether multimodal option will require much more time that purely sea/ocean freight. When staffed containers are positioned in Russian ports (moved to the export stock) cargo is allowed for certain free period, approx 5-10 days free storage before being placed on board of a motor vessel (container motor ship). All boarded containers with russian export are subject to Bill of Ladding to be issued. Bill of ladding is the main cargo document wich is then used in port of destination for further (import) customs clearance procedure. Alternative option to Bill of ladding is Telex Release or Sea Way Bill. Consignee has a right to ask for a Bill of Ladding draft to be issued prior container is boarded onto the motor vessel (while the container is staying idle in the sea terminal export stock). Experienced enterpreneurs always asks for a BL draft because correction of BL originals are quite a complicated procedure which always take big efforts, time and additional fees. Cargo shipped out from Russia in standard sea containers can reach overseas continents in predictable terms as most of sea voyages are having planned schedules of ports of call. Consignees shall bear in mind that upon container's arrival at port of destination consignee must take care of (1) port expedition of container cargo, (2) custom's clearance, (3) on-carriage (terrrain delivery) of container cargo from sea port to the consignee's warehouse, (4) empty container drop-off at container depot. These are very important, and almost crucial procedures which must be carried out by the experienced logistic specialists. Mistakes occured in this field might imply penalties and financial losses. For those clients and purchasers who would like to receive complete "door-to-door" service we can arrange complete service on the consignee's end, i.e. port expedition in the port of destination, customs clearance at destination, on-carriage on customer's terrain, delivering to the customers warehouse or site and dropp-off of empties (container equipment). We have big experience in logistics operations and we have considerable number of logistic agents in more than 50 countries who can arrange "door" services upon request. Once we speak about deliveries to the European countries then cartage (road freight) of Russian cargo by truck is of much bigger demand among our customers in compare with sea freight. It is quite obvious because cartage (road freight) is having definately shorter terms than sea freight, and less formalities and lack of additional transhipments. Door Moscow - Door Berlin 3 days. Door St.Petersburg - Door Milan 4 days. Door Moscow - Door Barcelona 8-10 days. Same directions, but with use of 'sea freight' instead of 'road freight' on a basis of 'door-to-the-door' will require 3 or 4 times more.
