What is HS Code for?

Harmonized System Code (HS CODE) when known can give access to immediate calculation of import duties and taxes for imported goods. Most of well experienced importers (enterpreneurs) are aware of internet sources where they can immediately access national customs databases and therefore get precise calculation of import duties and taxes on commodities imported. This where hs code is needed to be inserted into on-line calculation form. To avoid any discrepancy please double check accuracy of the hs code use and its conformity with Your local custom's broker.

Once accurate hs code is used it can provide information on the size of import duties and taxes as well as information on possible restrictions and/or embargo if any in connection with this hs code and its origin.

From our side we can inform size of Russian export duties and taxes shortly after such a request has reached us. Most of Russian articles have "0" export duties and "0%" V.A.T. Despite of 'zero' duties and taxes each Russian article exported must be declared at Russian customs where relevant transport document (CMR or B/L) should be stamped. This procedure is performed by professional custom's broker who has valid licence and is allowed to reach customs officials. Clearance procedure performed by a custom's broker is always chargeable and clearance fee depends on region, size of export and commodity itself. In big cities such as St.Petersburg and Moscow broker's fee can be as much as $200-$300 USD per declaration. In small towns - $50-100 USD per declaration. The declaration itself can be issued (for example) on 1 FTL (full truck load) or 1 FCL (full container load). Each subsequent truck or container being inserted in same (one) declaration might require additional fee, approx $5-10 USD or more.

Custom's clearance in Russia in most of times requires much more time when anywhere in the world. The very first shipment at least. Regular shipments of same article shipped by same exporter can be smoothened to a minimum term. Nowadays more and more Russian exports are cleared electronic and remotely, which allows goods to be shipped almost immediately after staffing at the loading site.
